Pre STAR riding and weather
« on: June 06, 2014, 02:36:40 PM »
Got to Rapid City late last night.  picked up my rental HD Dyna Switch-back this morning.  She is a beautiful burnt orange with only 177 miles on the odo.  Took it easy this morning to break in the tires.  Light rain and low clouds/fog at noon.  Will try to get out later if weather breaks.

Nice hotel!  I'm in room 208 if you arrive early.

Safe travels all,

Man I wish I was there!   :'(   Ron,  be careful with that HD.  I saw the after math at a previous STAR when a member turned into a curve and started dragging hard parts till something gouged into the pavement and put him down.  Have a great time!

Hi Ron we are down in Granby, Co trying to skirt some rain. We want to ride Loveland pass yet today. See you when we get there.

We got in yesterday. Been working on setting up the registration room and the door prize room.
We could use some help stuffing registration packets around 9:30AM tomorrow in the "Board Room" if anybody want to give a hand.  :)

37 degrees with frost on our bike seats... Brrr! Our bikes are in the shade... The sun feels soooo much better! Riding down to ride Loveland and Berthold (sp?) passes this AM then up through Rocky mtn National park this afternoon. Intend to stay in Cheyenne, WY tonight then short ride in Sunday.

Randy Logan's wee Strom has performed as usual so far as well. We're nestled into our rooms, got a bit of sleep last night, and Randy's heading out somewhere today while I help with registration.

We took shelter under an abandoned service station overhang for about an hour yesterday with heavy rain, hail, and who knows what else. After the storm passed, the temperature dropped at least 30 degrees and maybe closer to 40. It was 47 degrees when we stopped for a late lunch in northern Nebraska.

Today we rode down to bag Loveland pass then back up ending in Wheatland, Wy. It was cold when we started cool all day and we got 40 miles of either lite rain or mist or fog or??? Not enough to make us stop to put on more gear.
