« Last post by Krons on April 09, 2024, 09:18:38 PM »Hello everyone, new MSTA member from central Iowa. Last October finally bought my first sport touring bike—a 2015 Versys 1000. It joins a 2007 R1200GS Adventure and a 2011 DRZ400S in the stable.
Started riding in mid-90s on a Katana 600, then later a GSX1100G. After a 20 year hiatus while the kids were young returned to riding in 2019. Was shopping for a KLR650 and came across the BMW, 6 months later decided to get a DR650 as a gravel bike (which was eventually replaced by the DRZ).
But—I’ve never lost an interest in the sport touring segment. Last summer looked at RTs and FJRs but didn’t fit my 33” inseam, and the C14 seemed too heavy. Came across the Versys and been very happy with it. A strange deal being 8 years old and only 320 miles on it. Thankfully gas tank was drained and it has run great. 1300 miles on it now, love that Ninja 1000 engine.
