Read this on the BMWRA Facebook page and it has generated a lot of discussion there.  I shared it with other members of the EC a couple of days ago, along with a link to the RA discussion.  The comments made in the discussion are very enlightening, as is the article. Well worth reading.

One thing I disagree with though....I don’t think that clubs are dying, as much as they are evolving.   If anything, social media has made it easier to find people with shared interests, and easier for people with shared interests to interact with others.  But instead of doing it in “meetings” , it’s done by setting up “groups” and through a social media platform.  With social media the “meeting” is always happening 24/7/365 and people can check in and out anytime they want, stay for as long or as little as they want, and start a new discussion just with a new post.   People no longer need to go somewhere at a certain time to participate in the “club”.  Nor do they need to go through the hassle of sending in applications and paying dues to “belong”.  Social media groups that also maintain real world activities can provide the best of both worlds.  Social media has forced “clubs” to evolve and those that don’t will go the way of the dinosaurs.  But in reality they are still doing what “clubs” always did.....bring people who have shared interests together.

We have had 20 new members register between December 28 and today. That's pretty much in the middle of PMS (Parked Motorcycle Season). Seems to me MSTA is far from dying.

Bob,
Were these 20 just on Facebook or are they new registered members?

No, these are paid MSTA new members (and one more today) Two of the 21 indicated they learned about MSTA from Face Book. Most indicate they heard about MSTA from a friend.
