Title: Hi from Chicago!
Post by: Smaug on April 10, 2019, 10:46:52 PM
Hi all, I've been active on the Facebook MSTA. site for a little while.

Now, I finally got a number shift to the forum. I live in the northwest Chicago suburbs, and I'm writing a 2016 Suzuki Bandit 1250SA.

I look forward to chatting with you guys on the Forum, which I think is a better platform than Facebook.

Welcome to the forum.  NW Chicago is not too far from La Crosse.  Be sure to join us at La Crosse in August 9-11 for Twistar 2.0, a JFF event.  Same location as STAR 2018 which was enjoyed by many.

Welcome Mr. Dragon.  I look forward to your contributions here on the forum and to rebuilding the MSTA in your area.  Thanks for joining!

Welcome from NE 'burbs of Cincinnati. Being a luddite, I prefer the forum to facebook cause I don't do facebook. You are one of the few who say they prefer the forum.
But this is about riding so let's see ya at an event and do so riding. Nice bulletproof ride of choice. TM

FYI

Many of our members who are on Facebook and use the FB MSTA page have agreed that the forum is a better place for much of what we need, threaded discussions for one. We've had discussions at various events in the past with a mix of members.

But the low traffic here, compared to FB, and the fact that they see it right there while on their FB page without going to some other page, logging in, etc. makes FB more vibrant and usable.

I am not on Facebook and don't plan to change that. But my brother is, as are Couch, Woovis and others who I've talked with.

Not opening THAT debate again but I thought it unusual that he mention it. :^)
The point is to welcome him and let's go ride.  TM

Thanks for the warm welcome, all. I went to a few rallies last year, and some of you have maybe met me already. It took awhile for me to get approved here.

I traded my CBR500R for a Bandit 1250S this year; I'm currently getting it set up for touring. I wear black and dayglow yellow jacket and helmet. (I don't know about you, but I can't remember names worth a damn, but I can remember bikes and gear!)

I like facebook, but it's MUCH easier to find things in a proper forum. I think facebook should be viewed mainly as a way to get new members and to point them here. Facebook is getting info on us for their profit, we may as well profit from the exposure, right? ;)
